3: Colrain City Bridge (River Street)

3   The "River Street"or "Colrain City bridge", view to upstream. This bridge was on the main road to Vermont, Jacksonville Road (today's Route 112) before the construction of the present section of Route 112 which passes by Colrain Elementary School. 

Survived the 1938  hurricane ??? but was then deemed unsafe and was replaced by current route straight through the village. Abutments visible.

Above :    2365_027   a 1907 postcard .... ???? .. perhaps 5a , the bridge to Adamsville Road. ??  ================================================================== Is this in Colrain ???  CHS# 1415-1 ..... ===================     NO this is Shelburne... and, the typed note on top may be wrong.  A March 19, 1936 Recorder news story on the flood states "the old covered bridge over North river at the Four Mile Square road was burned after working loose from its moorings .... to prevent damage to the bridge of flowers.."
